Chanelle Pickett PRE-ORDER

PLEASE NOTE: this is a pre-order. The image seen here is taken with my phone and not the actual image to be printed. First batch of prints is expected early next week (10/19~10/21) and therefore won't ship until then.

The subject of the portrait is Chanelle Pickett, a 23-year-old transgender woman from New York who was brutally murdered outside Boston in November, 1995. The portrait is created from pages of Harry Potter books. The author has purposefully and relentlessly contributed to a culture that vilifies and endangers trans people around the world. This project seeks to provide healing to multiple generations of queer readers who found refuge in a magical world, only to have it tainted by the author's dangerous and harmful exploits.

20% of the proceeds from the sale of these prints goes to the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association and Foundation, a nationwide network of legal professionals and affiliated organizations dedicated to promoting justice and equity for the diverse LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, education, and collaboration within the legal profession.  They are also spearheading the movement to ban the use of the "trans panic" and "gay panic" legal defense, tactics used by attorneys to justify violence against the LGBTQ+ community. You can donate directly to them here.
